Parliamentary Innovation Tech Showcase

Xefco® is an Australian materials science company focussed on sustainable manufacturing technologies for the textile industry. Leveraging a global network of research partners, Xefco develops advanced manufacturing solutions with a focus on functional improvements, sustainable manufacturing and reduced resource consumption.

The showcase

Xefco will be showcasing high performance textiles and garments made using Xefco’s advanced manufacturing technologies.

XReflex Radiant Barrier Textiles

XReflex textiles incorporate an ultra-thin radiant barrier coating that reflects radiant body to produce thinner, lighter and warmer insulated clothing. XReflex technology allows over 50% less insulating materials to be used in clothing for the same warmth. Launched in 2019, XReflex is now used by a number of leading global fashion and outdoor clothing brands including The North Face, Zara, Outdoor Research and Zhik. Xefco will display a selection of XReflex materials together with customer products that use our materials. We will include samples of a high-end mountaineering jacket made by The North Face that attendees can touch/wear to feel the impressive lightweight warmth provided by the technology.

Ausora – Sustainable Textile Manufacturing Systems

Conventional dyeing and finishing processes used by the industry are responsible for 20% of the world’s water pollution and 3% of carbon emissions. Utilising a novel atmospheric plasma coating process, Ausora systems will transform textile manufacturing globally by providing an efficient, water-free manufacturing process that provide numerous functional and performance benefits.

Xefco will have a ‘hands on’ display featuring water repellent textiles produced by our Ausora systems. Attendees will be able to test the impressive water resistant properties of these fabrics in a small tank of water.
