SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, September 16, 2025 – Today marks a new chapter for the Tech Council of Australia (TCA) with the official launch of an International Practice focused on technology trade and investment. The TCA is the trusted voice of Australia’s tech industry—advocating for forward-thinking policy, driving innovation, and building a connected and thriving tech ecosystem across the country.
This year, the TCA builds on this success to champion the Australian tech industry globally, bringing the voice of the sector to the rest of the world. The new international practice will support the growth and expansion of Australian tech companies with a clear and ambitious mission: To increase and grow Australia’s share of global digital trade by boosting the tech sector’s contribution to national GDP.
CEO Damian Kassabgi said, the mission has always extended beyond Australia’s borders: “We know that many Australian tech companies are ‘born global’. The future of Australian tech and national prosperity depends on our ability to forge connections—pathways that break down borders, open doors to international markets, and build bridges to investment and collaboration across continents.”
“To truly thrive and grow Australia’s global footprint and national prosperity, we must support Australian tech companies to compete—and succeed—internationally,” he said. “We want the tech sector to be the number #1 sector in Australia and to see this value increase”.
The practice was launched in partnership today with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) at the Tech Council’s National Tech Summit Gala Dinner in Sydney. It will support Australian fast-growing tech companies and members with guidance and strategic pathways to access global markets; establish and nurture strategic partnerships to broaden opportunities and deepen market access; and champion Australia’s nation brand and tech industry on the global stage.
The TCA looks forward to working with the Australian Government, State and Territory Partners, as well as international trade and investment authorities to drive tech innovation, grow market opportunities, and accelerate the growth of Australia’s technology sector internationally.
