Tech Council of Australia Thanks Hon Wyatt Roy for Helping Grow a Strong and Vibrant Tech Sector in Australia

Former NSW Minister for Digital Government Hon. Victor Dominello to join TCA Board.

22 May 2023 Canberra – The Tech Council of Australia (TCA) today announced that Executive Director Wyatt Roy would be stepping down from the TCA Board in June.

“The TCA Board thanks Wyatt for his significant service on the Board and in supporting the organisation from inception over the past two years. His expertise, industry knowledge, and insights have delivered several crucial wins for the tech sector.” Robyn Denholm, Chair of the TCA Board said.

“As a former Federal Minister in the Australian Government, Wyatt has bought a unique perspective to the organisation. We wish him well in his future endeavours as he continues to support the tech sector through his private and philanthropic work,” Ms Denholm said.

The TCA operates a bi-partisan model to ensure broad-based and lasting support for the sector.

As Wyatt steps down, he passes the baton to Victor Dominello, who recently retired from NSW politics. Victor brings with him an exceptional reputation as a leader in digital technology.

Wyatt Roy said he was thrilled to hand over to Victor Dominello. “I am very proud of our work over the past two years. I thank the Board for their support as we worked together to give the tech industry a unified voice.”

“I am excited to hand the baton to my friend Victor, who will make an excellent contribution to the Tech Council. I can think of no one more qualified for the role. Victor set the gold standard for digital government and will continue to bring an important perspective to the national discussion on tech.”

“Having a truly bi-partisan approach is an enormous strength of the Tech Council and is something many industry organisations have struggled to achieve. Broad community and political support for the tech sector will ensure lasting policy change. The tech sector is now a powerhouse of the Australian economy, already employing close to a million Australians in every corner of our country.”

Victor Dominello expressed his enthusiasm at joining the TCA Board, “this is an organisation that has gone from zero to hero in just two years. It is leading advocacy in the tech sector and providing a unified voice on critical issues.”

“I want to acknowledge Wyatt for his tremendous work and hope to build on his contribution to the Board in the years to come.”

During his 14 years in the NSW Parliament, including serving as Minister for Digital and Minister for Customer Service, Mr Dominello oversaw a large part of the NSW government’s digital transformation. He led a substantial evolution of Service NSW and its app, which saw the delivery of digital solutions such as QR check-ins and vaccine certificates during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since retiring from NSW Parliament Victor has been made a Professor at UNSW and appointed the Trustworthy Digital Society Hub to advance digital services prioritising security and ethical considerations.

Victor joins Former Queensland Minister the Hon. Kate Jones on the Board. A full list of the TCA Board can be found here.
