Today we turned the spotlight to Activate Tech Central, exploring Sydney’s innovation precinct as a hub for Australia’s tech future. From government strategy and startup showcases to behind-the-scenes lab visits, the day highlighted the talent, ambition and world-class technology being built right here in NSW.

Minister Anoulack Chanthivong opened the day at UTS Startups, outlining the NSW Government’s ambitions for Tech Central and their vision to make NSW the state of choice for the next generation of innovators. Read the full Tech Central Economic Development Strategy here.

At Stone & Chalk, attendees met founders from cutting-edge technology firms like Cognitivo, who help their customers scale AI faster and more responsibly, and MaryTechnology, who demonstrated its AI-powered platform for the legal sector, helping lawyers rapidly establish case facts and dramatically reduce time spent on evidence review.

We also heard from TCA member Archer, who showcased how their quantum breakthroughs in computing, sensing, and biomedical technology are opening up new possibilities for healthcare solutions.

In the afternoon, MorseMicro invited us behind the scenes to see how the semiconductors underpinning the world’s longest distance WiFi chips are designed and tested. Attendees gained fascinating technical insights into what it is like to operate a fabless semiconductor company in Australia using local talent and global capital.

Finally, we wrapped up the Summit at Canva HQ, where closing drinks set the stage for a powerful discussion on tech for social impact. Speakers explored how philanthropy, empowerment, and scaling purpose-driven ventures can unlock impact at scale – and how Australia’s world-class technical capabilities can be harnessed to solve pressing social and environmental challenges. Big thanks to Cliff Obrecht and Nedd Brockmann for their candid discussion, and Nedd sharing his journey, the mantras, values, and rules he lives by that allow him to achieve the things he does.

A special thanks to Matthew Proft for guiding today’s Tech Central tour and helping bring the precinct to life for our attendees.

With that, the 2025 National Tech Summit officially comes to a close. A heartfelt thank you to every speaker, partner, and attendee who joined us over the past three days. Together, we’ve sparked ideas and built connections that will shape the future of Australia’s tech sector.

Stay tuned for photos, videos, and highlights from all three days – coming soon!
