Statement from Tech Council of Australia CEO Dr Kate Cornick on Government consultation on startup CGT concession

The Tech Council of Australia welcomes the Government’s consultation paper on proposed CGT arrangements for innovative startups.

We have worked closely with our members and the Government on the impact of the proposed CGT changes on founders, employees and early investors. This is a constructive response that shows the Government has listened to their concerns.

Successful startups and scaleups create jobs and build the industries that underpin future prosperity for all Australians. To grow more innovative companies here, productive risk taking must be rewarded.

We will work through the detail of the consultation paper with our members and continue to engage constructively with the Government on a final design that is clear, practical and supports Australia’s innovation economy.
